Blaise Diagne International Airport

Ndiass, Senegal

2022 - 2023

partnership with IATA

description:

Leadin Aviation responded to an IATA request to prepare an airport forecast supporting the AIDB hub bid. The objective was to update forecast demand and provide more accurate inputs for the airport’s financial plan. The project included detailed analysis of historical traffic using AODB data, combined with global, continental, and local market assessments to determine the conditions driving future demand. Organic and non-organic growth factors were evaluated alongside route development, potential demand ceilings, catchment area analysis, and other complementary assessments.

A sensitivity analysis was conducted to define optimistic and pessimistic scenarios for passengers, air traffic movements (ATMs), and cargo. Due to project schedule constraints, automated tools were used to efficiently test hypotheses discussed with the client and stakeholders, enabling a detailed assessment and faster delivery. The resulting traffic forecast supported the development of Senegal’s financial planning. By combining robust market intelligence with scenario-driven forecasting, Leadin Aviation contributed to resilient financial planning and improved visibility of future demand for Senegal’s main gateway.

client benefits:

  • Comprehensive understanding of current traffic patterns and dynamics;

  • Robust analytical support for informed decision-making;

  • Solid methodology for future traffic demand estimates and development studies.
