Leadin has performed a comprehensive and diligent assessment of the airport’s historic development, existing Penang State, and the challenges and opportunities lying ahead.

 

The objective of the research conducted and reported in this working document, is to provide insights in the development of all aviation traffic segments up till 2050, as well as an expected demand growth path for the intermediate period.

 

Leadin uses the industry wide accepted approach of regression forecasting. Regression forecasting allows for integrating several (macro-)economic drivers to predict the future traffic growth. As such a market assessment has been conducted first, to understand what is actually driving the Malaysian and regional markets.

 

The project involved a consultant using regression analysis to forecast aviation traffic growth until 2050, helping to provide insights for the airport's future development and capital expenditure planning.
