description:
Leadin Aviation conducted a comprehensive assessment of Penang International Airport’s historical development, the current conditions in Penang State, and the challenges and opportunities for future development. The study aimed to provide insights into the evolution of all aviation traffic segments up to 2050 and to define an expected demand growth path for intermediate periods. Leadin Aviation applied an industry-accepted regression forecasting approach, integrating multiple macroeconomic drivers to estimate future traffic growth.

The assignment included a market assessment to identify key factors influencing demand in the Malaysian and regional aviation markets. Regression analysis was then used to develop passenger and busy-hour traffic projections up to 2050, supporting the evaluation of future development needs and capital expenditure. By combining market insight with structured demand modelling, Leadin Aviation supported informed planning for the long-term development of Penang Airport.
