design coordination and
strategic advise for airport development
project data:
Bavaro International Airport
Altagracia, Dominican Republic
2022

description:
Abrisa Group initiated the development of a new private airport to serve Playa Bávaro and its surrounding tourist area. Eurocontrol Services was engaged to advance the required studies, appointing Leadin Aviation Consulting to lead the initial planning phase. Leadin’s role focused on concept design coordination and strategic advice for airport development, including the airport location assessment and feasibility analysis.
The assignment included a comprehensive location study evaluating nine alternative sites, addressing key technical aspects such as Obstacle Limitation Surfaces and initial runway levelling. Once the preferred location was selected, Leadin conducted a detailed assessment of the site to define infrastructure needs and establish the preliminary airport layout, covering the passenger terminal, runway and contingency runway, airside systems, control tower, and access systems.
Leadin also provided strategic advice to support value-engineering decisions, optimizing CAPEX requirements and strengthening the project’s investment readiness. Through coordinated concept design and strategic planning, Leadin established a robust technical foundation for both the terminal design and airside development, supporting the long-term development of New Bávaro International Airport.
